Powerglide Transmission Handbook

Front Cover

I can't recall if I've ever driven a Powerglide. I've driven automatic Chevys and Pontiacs, but I don't remember if any of them sported a 'Glide.

I do know I've never driven my Grandfather's 1967 Chevrolet El Camino, and it's definitely packing a Powerglide — he bought it new in '67 with one, intentionally.

If you didn't know, the combination of a Chevy 283 V8 and a Powerglide automatic transmission was about as rock solid a powertrain as you could get during the '60s — which is one of the reasons he bought it.

As durable and reliable as the El Camino's powertrain is, it's been over 50 years since it rolled off the assembly line and his old Powerglide needs some serious attention now — which is why I picked up a copy of the Powerglide Transmission Handbook. If you're in need of some Powerglide knowledge as well, click the return link below to check out the rest of the review!
