Brains on a Hubcap
That's what Classics and Performance is.
I know that because talking with my friend Patty, we discussed the content of Classics and Performance and how it doesn't necessarily speak to the average gear head. She said – and I'm paraphrasing here – that if I wanted to create content that the average gear head wanted to see, I should be producing boobs on a hubcap. Instead, I'm creating brains on a hubcap.
I found her assessment spot on.
My response to her was something along the lines of "I don't want to create what the average gear head is interested in."
And I don't.
Personally, I prefer intellectual pursuits along with the thrills of driving – both on trips and on the race track. And I prefer to excel at both – not merely participate.
If I'm going to do it, I like to do it to the best of my ability – anything less is a waste of time, energy and life, after all.
I'm an anomaly, and I'm fully aware of it.
It's a big world, though, and I've found there's room for everybody.
I hope you've enjoyed this wild and crazy adventure I've been on and continue to come back for more.
It's been 15 interesting years working on Classics and Performance, and I'm looking forward to many more – creating brains on a hubcap.
Happy New Year, all.
